Dreams To Realities
I've talked about moving and living in New York at least since I was 14. I dreamed of being in the city and modeling and falling in love under the stars.
A year ago, I officially moved away from home to attend NYU for my graduate degree. People thought I was kidding, and when I did it- people thought I wouldn't last.
Being in New York has increased my hustle, my drive and my ability to bounce back from rejection. I'd like to think I've adopted a bit of the New York mentality of thriving by any means and a lot of their swagger.
In the year since my move, I've become an international model and have worked more consistently with modeling than I have in the previous 10 years.
(International client- KnixWear in Canada).
It wasn't easy- when I first moved, my roommates were crap. I lived in a FILTHY apartment in Jersey City that has gnats in the fridge and freezer, hair clogging the sink and dirty rings around the tub. I wanted to move back home, I was depressed and I stayed in my room 80% of the time outside of going to class.
One day I took a long, hard look at myself in the mirror and decided to buckle my heels down and focus on the things I wanted.
Over the course of the year- I've been featured in Cosmopolitan and RedBook Magazine, travelled to California 4 times for different gigs and major castings, booked a major commercial (coming soon) and have been working on myself and my dreams!
I've also been afforded the opportunity to travel. In August I went to Aruba for a week and on a 7 day cruise which were both an amazing way to celebrate my 25th birthday.
I think I'm still adjusting to the crazy amount of tourists there always are here, how no one uses the correct side of the sidewalk for walking and the lack of personal space I have on packed trains...but I wouldn't have it any other way!
If you read this, I hope you decide to keep going for your goals and dreams! They're possible and you deserve it!!
